Our Story
Arbor Grove is a small-batch botanical skincare and home fragrance brand based in Atkinson, New Hampshire, founded and handcrafted by artisan Beth Cacciotti. Every Arbor Grove product — from soy candles and goat milk soaps to whipped body butters, sugar scrubs, magnesium lotions, and room sprays — is formulated and made by hand in small batches. We never mass-produce. That's by design: small batches mean tighter quality control, fresher ingredients, and products we're genuinely proud to put our name on.
Meet The Artisan
I'm Beth Cacciotti, the founder and sole artisan behind Arbor Grove. Every product you see here — every candle, every bar of soap, every lotion and balm — is handcrafted by me in small batches right here in southern New Hampshire.
My journey into artisan skincare and fragrance started with a deep love for nature and a background in marketing that taught me to question every claim a brand makes. That combination shaped everything about Arbor Grove: products that genuinely perform, ingredient lists you can trust, and marketing that never overpromises.
Before building Arbor Grove, I spent years in manufacturing and marketing — experience that now helps me connect directly with customers who care about what they put on their skin and in their homes.
I bring a background an MBA from Rutgers to the business side, but the heart of Arbor Grove lives in the formulation lab: researching ingredients, testing ratios, and refining recipes until they perform beautifully without compromise.
What We Believe
Intentionally simple. Naturally effective.
That's not just a tagline — it's a formulation philosophy. Every Arbor Grove product is designed to do its job well using carefully chosen, high-quality ingredients. No filler. No gimmicks. No dubious claims about "detoxifying" or "curing" anything. We follow FDA cosmetic guidelines and will never cross into drug claim territory in our marketing.
Our commitment to honesty extends to how we talk about fragrance. We use USA-made fragrance oils from established American companies rather than undiluted essential oils. This is a deliberate choice — essential oils are resource-intensive to produce (it takes 250 pounds of lavender flowers to make a single pound of oil), several source species are endangered, and essential oils are unregulated in the United States. Our fragrance oils are extensively tested for safety and performance, and every product is formulated within IFRA (International Fragrance Association) guidelines on a scent-by-scent basis.
We're guided by aromachology — the scientific study of how fragrance affects mood and behavior — not by unverified aromatherapy claims. We use the Fragrance Wheel, developed by perfume expert Michael Edwards in 1983, to select and pair our scents so that every product delivers a thoughtful, layered fragrance experience.
How We Make Our Products
Every Arbor Grove product is made in small batches to control quality. Here's what that means in practice:
Our soy candles are hand-poured using USA-grown organic soy wax or a coconut-soy blend. We use only USA-made ingredients where possible, and you'll never find anything but a wick in our candles — no dried flowers, no crystals, no decorative additives. We avoid wooden vessels entirely. Safety is always our top priority.
Our handmade soaps are built on olive oil and goat milk formulas with shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, castor oil, and kaolin clay. Each ingredient is chosen for a specific purpose — olive oil for gentle conditioning, coconut oil for rich lather, shea butter for deep moisturizing, kaolin clay for gentle exfoliation. Every bar is crafted to balance bubbles, conditioning, durability, creaminess, and cleansing power.
Our body care and skincare products — from the Sugar + Shea Hand Polish to the Bakuchi Renewal Cream to the Natural Magnesium Lotion with Arnica — are formulated with the same attention to ingredient purpose and safety. We select every ingredient from trusted, cruelty-free sources that meet our standards for sustainability and fair trade.
Our Standards
Every product is cruelty-free, non-toxic, and made with ingredients sourced from trusted US suppliers wherever possible. We are a member of the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild (HSCG) and are currently pursuing Leaping Bunny certification.
We prioritize USA-grown or manufactured ingredients wherever possible and maintain a carbon-conscious supply chain. Every ingredient is selected from suppliers who meet our high standards for sustainability, fair trade practices, and quality.
Every product meets strict regulatory standards. Each fragrance is used within the guidelines set by IFRA according to its individual Safety Data Sheet. We believe this level of care and transparency is what sets handcrafted products apart from mass-market alternatives.
