Autumn without the cliché.

The vessel came first on this one. Its deep-ribbed, low-shouldered shape is drawn from Rouge Vif d'Étampes — the French heirloom pumpkin the fairy tale borrowed for Cinderella's carriage — rendered here in matte ivory stoneware with a burnished gold ceramic lid. Timeless rather than seasonal, and built to come out of the cabinet every October for years.

When the wax is gone, what's left is the point. Wash it out and you have a lidded stoneware vessel in matte ivory and burnished gold — closed on the console through the year, or open with a handful of dried stems in October. It was designed as an object that holds a candle, not a candle that came in a container, and the difference shows once it's empty.

Coconut apricot wax costs several times what standard soy does, and it's the reason this candle performs the way it does. It holds far more fragrance than soy can carry, melts at a lower temperature so the scent lifts gently rather than scorching off, and burns down evenly — pulling clean off the vessel walls instead of leaving a ring of unburned wax behind. Three wicks in a vessel this wide means the scent reaches the next room, not just the table it's sitting on.  It also skips the ritual most candles demand: no long first burn to set the memory, no tunneling to guard against.

Three cotton wicks in an 18 oz fill of coconut apricot wax, poured by hand in small batches. The three-wick pour is what makes the difference: a full, even melt pool edge to edge and a scent that fills a room rather than the corner it's sitting in. Available in ten scents, poured once for the season.
